Orangemen snag Texas QB

The Syracuse Orangemen have just plucked one of the biggest prizes in the state of Texas. The prize is a 6-foot-1, 214-pound three-star quarterback from Houston.
“I’m all orange,” said Houston Booker T. Washington three-star dual-threat quarterback Joseph Fields. “I committed to Syracuse yesterday. I call the coaches up and told them that I’m coming.

“They were in shock and really excited. They said they couldn’t believe they got their guy. They told me all along that I was their only quarterback recruit. I’m it.”
Fields was named his district’s most valuable player on offensive this year after throwing for 1,292 yards and 12 touchdowns. He threw for 1,492 yards and 15 touchdowns as a junior.
Fields also had scholarship offers from Wisconsin, Arkansas and Houston, but after an official visit to Syracuse on November 7 he knew that would be the place for him.
“It was where I felt it in my heart,” he said.
“There was no reason to string this out. Nobody recruited me the same way. There are tremendous people there. I have a chance to get an excellent education, and I can come in and compete for a starting spot right away.”
