ONeal making move up charts

Very rarely does it happen that a player plays one year of football and is instantly on the minds of over a dozen college programs. Then again, there are few players around like New Orleans (La.) Warren Easton 6-foot-4, 200 pound outside linebacker Kevin O’Neal.
“I have been getting mail from LSU, Auburn, Oklahoma, Michigan State, Tennessee, Ole Miss, Southern Miss, Memphis, West Virginia, Louisiana Tech, Nebraska, Arkansas, Duke, Colorado and Georgia Tech,” O’Neal said.

O’Neal runs the 40-yard dash in 4.45 seconds and boasts a 250-pound bench press as well as a 450 pound squat.
“Right now LSU is probably my top school,” he said. “I would love to go there. I’m also looking at Georgia Tech, Auburn, Ole Miss, Arkansas, Michigan State, Miami and Florida State. I have always been a Miami fan, but LSU is my leader right now.”
He has already attended junior days at LSU and Auburn and plans to attend junior days at Ole Miss and Georgia Tech in the coming weeks.
“I’m planning on going to camp at LSU and two other team camps at least,” he said. “Right now, I’m thinking about Michigan State and Oklahoma. I’ve really started liking Michigan State a lot lately and want to check it out.”
As a junior O’Neal was named the best newcomer on his team and was awarded all-area honors, but gave it up so that a senior teammate, who had been on the team since his freshman year, could have the honor instead.
“The most important thing in my decision will be the schools academics,” he said. “Also, I’m not worried about team prestige; I just want the best fit for me. I really want to play early and sometimes you can’t at the top schools, but I would play at a school that had a really good team too.”
