ONeal makes his decision

There has been several times this year when we called up Oakland (Calif.) McClymonds linebacker Kyler O'Neal to see how his official visit went only to find out he didn't make the trip. The talented athlete did trip this past weekend and made his college choice.
O'Neal, 5-11, 195 pounds was offered early in the process by Colorado and Nebraska and was slated to visit each multiple times. Something always seemed to come up however and eventually, both Big 12 schools filled up and had to pull their offers.

The one school that stayed in it with O'Neal was San Jose State and their patience paid off as the 'backer is now a Spartan.
"Yep, I committed on the trip," O'Neal said. "I'm very excited about my decision and excited to be a Spartan right now. The whole coaching staff played a huge role and was the major reason for my decision.
"Coach Brennan has been recruiting me for the last couple of years and is just a great guy. I also had a chance to talk a lot with Coach Williams on the trip, he's the linebacker coach and he broke everything down for me.
"We watched film together and I really like that defense and how well I'll fit in. I can't say enough great things about Coach Tomey as well. I've never met any coach like him before.
"He's a great coach and is such a regular guy that he's so easy to talk with. He has really helped turned the program around and has them winning games right now. A few years ago, things weren't looking good for them but now they're winning Bowl games.
"We didn't' really talk much about playing time but I would love a chance to play next year. I know I need to get bigger and stronger but I'm going to work hard in the off-season and go to as many spring practices as I can so I can start learning the defense."
