Three-star Orlando (Fla.) Evans linebacker Brandon Siler has one official visit in the books and two more on the horizon.
“I went to Maryland last weekend,” he said. “It went pretty good. Everything was straight. I really liked the coaches and players there. That was the No. 1 thing. I like the personality of all the coaches, but especially my position coach, coach Banks. That’s very important to me because that’s the guy you’re going to spend the next four or five years around.
"It's a nice school, a nice campus, too. I liked the overall experience there."
Siler (6-3, 220, 4.52) is rated the No. 16 outside linebacker in the nation by Rivals.com. In addition to the Terrapins, he’s also looking closely at Florida and Tennessee.
“Those are my other two visits,” he said. “I have Florida on Jan. 9 and Tennessee on Jan. 16. Both of those are great programs, great schools. I’m looking forward to my visits so I can get a better idea of who looks the best. I can’t give you a leader or anything until I do that.”
All three of the main schools on his list recently made in-home visits.
"Coach Strong was here from Florida, coach Stevens from Tennessee and coach Banks from Maryland," Siler said. "I really like coach Strong at Florida, but they were all good."
He’s also considering a visit to Ole Miss.
“They signed Alan Abrams last year, and he says he likes it a lot,” Siler said. “They’re coming off a real good year, plus they need linebackers.”
He was considering offers from USC and LSU at one point, but says they are no longer in the picture.
"I just like the other schools and the situations there better," he said. "Nothing against them. They're still good schools."
