One on top for Alves

BRADENTON, Fla. - Wide receiver Caleb Alves of Melbourne (Fla.) Palm Bay claims offers from Bethune-Cookman, Bowling Green, Florida A&M, Florida Atlantic, Florida International, Massachusetts, and Memphis. At this time, the 6-foot-2, 185-pound wideout has one school on top of his list.
"Memphis stands out so far," Alves said.

The Sunshine State wide receiver is close to giving Memphis a commitment.
"I am leaning towards them and I am really close to committing," Alves said. "It could happen in the next couple of weeks."
The Sunshine State prospect talked about why the Tigers are on top.
"I have taken a visit there and I liked it," Alves said. "I liked the campus and everything about the school.
The future of the Memphis program, and the conference they will play football in, is a major factor in Alves' interest.
"I am dealing with Coach Galen Scott and he has told me they are getting ready to go into the Big East," Alves said. "That really caught my attention."
As for upcoming visits, Alves says that he will attend Florida's Friday Night Lights at the end of July. He says the Gators are his childhood favorite, but that they haven't shown him much interest during the process so far.
