One offer in, recruiting rising for VA corner

A couple weeks back, one Virginia cornerback pulled his first scholarship from the ACC. The 5-foot-10, 171-pounder is still sitting on one offer, but has a number of other colleges interested.
"Since NC State offered me, I haven't gotten any other offers," Hampton (Va.) Bethel cornerback Rijo Walker said. "I haven't visited NC State yet either. I plan to go down there sometime over my spring break, which is in another week. I've only talked to Coach Willis one time so far."

Meanwhile, interest is rising from other schools.
"I'm hearing from Duke constantly," he said. "I've also built up a relationship with Maryland and Coach Brattan. I'm hearing some from Virginia Tech too."
Not long ago Walker made a trip to Duke in February.
"I liked it a lot more than I expected," he stated. "The campus was really quiet and a place you won't get distracted too much. I thought I could fit in."
The Hampton Roads cornerback maintains no favorites at this time.
"Right now I'm letting everything come to me and then I'll make my decision," he said. "I'm just looking for a place that has a campus I feel comfortable at. I want that feel with a coach, a teacher relationship and a place my family can come and watch me. Academically I'm looking at something in veterinary sciences or else sports medicine or sports therapy."
Further down the line, Walker is looking to attend a few camps this summer.
"I'm planning on camps at Maryland, Duke, Tennessee and Virginia Tech."
Walker recently wrapped up indoor track where he helped Bethel's 4x2 team to a third place finish in the state.
