One more trip for Louisiana WR

East Ascension (La.) wide receiver Shawn Nelson has one official visit remaining, but whether that school has a legit chance to land his services is questionable.
“I’m going to Mississippi State this weekend,” he said. “But they’ve been real open and up-front to me about wanting me as a defensive end, so I kind of doubt that I would end up going there. I want to play wide receiver, and my top two schools – Southern Miss and LaTech – say they’ll give me a chance to play there.”

Anyone hold an advantage at this point?
“It’s even right now,” he said. “But I did feel like I bonded with some of LaTech’s players and other recruits while I was there.
“I’m not saying Southern Miss is out of it. They’re a good program, too, and I was really impressed with their academics. I’m still considering them.”
He said a final decision would come soon after his visit to Starkville.
"They've still got a chance, too," he said. "But I'd have to really be blown away by them or they'd have to tell me I could play receiver, more than likely."
Nelson (6-4, 224, 4.5) had 700 yards receiving and 12 touchdowns as a senior.
