One Last Visit For Hawkins

It's nearing decision time for Stockton (Calif.) Edison wide out Lavelle Hawkins. Hawkins, 5-11, 165 pounds visited LSU this past weekend and will trip to Miami, his childhood favorite, this up coming weekend. The trip to Miami will be Hawkins last and he said he expects to make a decision shortly after he returns home.

Hawkins is one of the nation's finest wide outs and a Rivals100 member. He was the top receiver for the Cali squad all week long during the CaliFlorida Bowl and has a nice combination of speed, hands and runs very well after the catch. At the NorCal Nike Camp, Hawkins put on a show running a 4.41 in the 40 and dominated the one on one receiver drills. Here's a look at how Hawkins breaks down his final two choices.

"LSU was a great visit, they really opened up my eyes to a lot of things," Hawkins said. "The guys on the team were great to hang out with and kept talking about not settling for just one national championship. It's a fun city and a place I was very comfortable with. Miami was my top school before the visit but LSU pulled up even with them right now.

"This weekend I'm going to Miami and I'm looking forward to that visit. I camped there this summer and got an award as the best receiver in the camp. I really liked it there and people have told me my personality fits in well there. I guess maybe it's because I talk a lot and I'm confident in my ability. Miami is kind of my dream school but I'm not going to let that factor in to my decision. LSU is a great school too and I just have to figure out where the best place for me is going to be.

"If I really like it there, there's a small chance I could commit on the visit but I'm mainly thinking about taking the week following the trip to make my decision between the two schools. I don't really have a timeline or anything, just whenever it feels right."
