One in front for Gilchrist

Port Charlotte (Fla.) defensive end Marcus Gilchrist holds three early offers - Eastern Michigan, Kentucky, and Western Michigan. The first school to pull the trigger was Western Michigan.
"It felt pretty good when I got my first offer," Gilchrist said.

That offer was followed by the Kentucky Wildcats. The 6-foot-4, 240-pound defender said that offer stood out immediately due to conference affiliation.
"That felt really great," Gilchrist said. "That offer gives me a chance to play against really good teams in a really good conference. That offer meant a lot to me with them being in a really big conference."
His most recent offer came from Eastern Michigan. All three schools are interested in utilizing him in the same fashion.
"They want me as a defensive end, as a rush end," Gilchrist said. "They like my feet and my athleticism."
As for summer plans, Gilchrist said he hopes to visit all the schools that have offered him, but that he definitely wants to see Kentucky. At this time, the Wildcats are out in front for his services.
"Right now I am looking more towards the University of Kentucky," Gilchrist said. "Mainly because they are in the SEC, a real good conference."
In addition to his offers, Gilchrist said he is also getting attention from Alabama, Ball State, Iowa State, N.C. State, and numerous others.
Gilchrist is also a standout basketball player for Port Charlotte.
