Once a Badger always a Badger

Monona Grove, Wis., offensive lineman Gabe Carimi grew up around Wisconsin football. So when the Badgers came calling with a scholarship offer in June it was an easy decision for Carimi.
"I wanted to be a Badger my whole life," Carimi said. "I live eight miles from Camp Randall. I wanted to play in the Big Ten."

Carimi has had plenty of contact with the Badgers' coaching staff throughout the season.
"I went to every home game," he said. "Coach Murphy calls sometimes, but coach Bielema calls the most."
The Badger coaches have let Carimi know where he is going to fit in once he puts on a Wisconsin uniform.
"They project me as an offensive tackle on the right side," Carimi said. "We haven't talked about it, but I assume I'll be redshirted. Whatever they think is best."
The 6-foot-7 and 268 pound Carimi is the No. 32 offensive tackle prospect in the Rivals.com player rankings and the No. 3 prospect in the state of Wisconsin.
