Olsen enjoys Duke trip

“I went to Duke this weekend,” he said. “It was unofficial, but they are talking about doing an official after the season. They said they were delayed because of the head coach being fired. They told me I’m their top linebacker prospect, but they don’t know what will go on with the coaching change.
“I loved the academics part since it is my biggest concern” -- he boasts a 3.75 GPA and an 1,140 on the SAT. “The coaches are great guys and the conference is great too. The school was really nice also.”

Army, Northwestern, Oregon State, Wake Forest, Vanderbilt, and Syracuse are other schools showing mutual interest. What is it about these schools that appeal to him?
“Army, they are one of the schools that not only talks about character, but also believes in it. I want to become a doctor, and they have one of the best medical facilities in the country, as does Duke. They asked me to take an official visit to their Army-Navy game.” So far Army is his only offer.
“Northwestern, I visited there in April and loved it. The academics are once again huge there. The conference is great--playing in front of huge crowds each week is just amazing. The coaches were very nice and the facilities were great.
“Oregon State, I haven’t visited there yet, but I definitely want to. They asked me to visit. They talked about an official visit after the season.
“Wake Forest and Vanderbilt, once again, the academics are first rate there. They both play in great conferences, and both have asked me to visit. I also would love to see those two places.
“Syracuse, they are looking at me as a linebacker. They play in a great conference and are close to home. They also want me to take a visit there, which I also want to do, to go out and see that campus and facilities.”
Since Red Bank plays most of their games on Saturday, Bo has had a hard time scheduling official visits, but hopes to do so after the season.
Olsen was named all-county and all-division as a junior. He has recorded 65 tackles through the first six games of the season as a linebacker, leading his team to a 5-1 mark. He also has six catches for 105 yards and four carries for 33 yards from the fullback slot.
