Ole Miss picks up sleeper speedster

Ole Miss has been showing a strong interest in a smaller running back out of the Peach State and he may be ready to make a big impact in the SEC. Alfred Moreland may be small, but he is quick and has told the Ole Miss staff that he is ready to be a Rebel.
"Ole Miss was my biggest offer and they are in the SEC, so I knew that is where I wanted to go," said Moreland. "With my size (5-foot-6, 170 pounds), I knew I would not get too many big offers, so I took the Ole Miss offer so I could play for a big school in a great conference."

The senior out of College Park (GA) Banneker has visited Oxford and he liked what he saw at his future home.
"I was at the game when they played Auburn and I loved it. I liked the facilities, I liked the indoor practice field, and the fans were great. They were loud, the stadium was packed, and I knew that was where I wanted to be."
After playing 10 games for the Trojans this season, Moreland finished with 1,213 yards rushing and 10 touchdowns. He also caught two touchdown passes and returned a couple of punts as well.
The talented back likes his size because he feels that gives him an advantage when running behind those big SEC offensive linemen.
"I am small and it is hard for the defense to find me or see me when I get the ball," he said. "I hide behind the line, find a crease, and then make a big play. I think I will make some plays for Ole Miss when I get there and my size will help me, not hurt me."
He is excited about his decision, he fell in love with the Ole Miss program, and he looks forward to going head to head against great competition in the future.
"The SEC is the best conference and I am amped up about playing against schools like Auburn, LSU, Georgia, Alabama, and all them. I just look at it like another game and I know I will do the best I can. I give my best each game like it is a regular opponent, so I will be ready."
Moreland gave his commitment to Tracy Rocker of Ole Miss.
