Ole Miss offers in-state LB/S

Waynesboro (Miss.) linebacker/safety Steve Gandy has picked up his second official scholarship offer.
“Ole Miss offered me here not too long ago,” he said. “I have offers from them and USM now.”

How does he feel about the Rebels’ interest?
“I like them a lot,” he said. “I liked the coaching staff when I went down there for their junior day. They told me I’m a real good fit in their defense at safety where they’re going to use the 4-2-5 scheme.”
Wayne County opened spring practice last Wednesday, and Gandy (6-1, 190, 4.4) says a number of coaches have visited the school to watch him work out.
“Alabama, Auburn, Ole Miss and West Virginia have all been by so far,” he said. “I got a letter from Nebraska today saying they were coming to see me next week. LSU has sent me a ton of stuff. I think they’re going to come watch practice. Some of the others are Georgia, Mississippi State, Michigan State and Texas.”
Gandy, who recorded 110 tackles as a junior en route to Class 5A all-state honors, said he doesn’t have a clear favorite at this point.
“I’m looking at everybody right now,” he said, before adding that he’d like to receive more attention from Florida State.
