Ole Miss lands 5-star Richmond

With a 2-0 start and things looking up in Oxford, Ole Miss coach Hugh Freeze and company got some more good news Tuesday when five-star Memphis (Tenn.) University School offensive tackle Drew Richmond committed to the Rebels in a ceremony at his high school.

Richmond chose Ole Miss over Tennessee, Ohio State and Alabama and immediately becomes the highest ranked prospect in the Rebels' 2015 class.
Ultimately for Richmond, the chance to play close to home -- the Oxford, Miss. campus is just 90 minutes from Memphis -- and reconnect with former friends and teammates was just too much to pass up.
"It would be fun to play with guys like Laremy Tunsil and Ben Still, my best friend and former teammate," Richmond said earlier this year about Ole Miss. "Ben and I are really close and that's one thing I like. I also have good relationships with a lot of guys on the team and just a lot of students that I know from my school."
For most of the summer Tennessee was the team that was trending; but an August visit to Ole Miss changed things for Richmond, who has admitted that he will still take visits even though he's now committed.
"I'm not 100 percent sure. I tell people you're not 100 percent sure until you sign your name on that paper. That's how I feel," Richmond said last month.
With the commitment, Richmond joins fellow Rivals100 prospect running back Eric Swinney as the two highest commitments in the Rebels class. Fellow Tennessee resident and Rivals250 cornerback Ugo Amadi is the only other prospect ranked as four-star or higher in the Rebels eight-player class.
Richmond's commitment makes the first time the Rebels have had a five-star commitment since 2013 when the school landed Tunsil, WR Laquon Treadwell and top overall prospect Robert Nkemdiche.
