IN HIS OWN WORDS

"I made my decision a week after I visited Ole Miss June 18 and it happened one night when I was up thinking at like 2am in the morning," said Lucas. "I kept thinking about where I wanted to go and the conversation I had with coach Luke popped up in my head.

"I remember him telling me that he was about to go help his sons with VBS (Vacation Bible School) but he heard I was coming so he stayed. He always preaches family and even though I wasn't a part of the Ole Miss family yet, he still made time to talk to me and to see me, so that meant a lot.

"When I told coach Luke, coach Roach and coach McGriff about my decision, their faces lit up and they had big smiles on their faces. Coach Roach just yelled really loud on the phone and they all told me in some way that they were glad to have me on board.

"I have visited Ole Miss three times and the vibe on campus is relaxed and chill. No one was rushing around, everyone was minding there own business and had smiles on there faces around the campus. What stood out to me the most was how clean they keep their campus and the scenery was good to look at.

"I know when I get there I will be able to come in, compete to play early and that was a big reason why I chose Ole Miss. Even if I wasn't playing football I would attend Ole Miss, so that was another key for me. They are all about family and I know that they will take care of me and it's not to far away from home, so those were factors in my decision as well.

"I most likely will still take visits to other places just to take them, but Ole Miss has my full attention at this time."

RIVALS REACTION

Lucas is a great young man. He is a kid that you see right away is respectful, considerate and those who have played on his team or competed against him have only praise his ability and attitude. As nice as he is off the field, he gets after it with an edge on it. He is a versatile defensive lineman who can play the five or three technique on the next level. He is agile for his size and he has a good balance of strength. Lucas is going to go into Oxford, work hard and compete. He always looks to learn and this is a good pick-up for the Rebels.
