Wheaton South offensive tackle prospect Dace Richardson (6-foot-6, 300 pounds) is the type of recruit that has just looks better and better each time you see him up close. Richardson on Friday afternoon went through a rough speed enhancement program after-school on a hot and humid day, and this Rivals100.com Top 100 national prospect took a few minutes to fill us in on his latest recruiting news.
“It feels good to go through this speed training routine," Dace Richardson said. “We've been working on speed training as well as weight lifting for awhile, and we are starting to really jell and focus in on getting ready for our senior year. We have high expectations for our senior year. You saw how hard these guys (Speed, Inc.) work us, and it feels good to just be out there sweating and getting better."
Richardson talked about getting his scholarship paperwork in the mail this week from the LSU Tigers. "I got the paperwork from LSU earlier last week. I also called and talked to Coach (Nick) Saban this week. We talked about recruiting as well as what my role would be at LSU. I know that he's very excited about me and that they will continue to recruit me pretty hard. I'm definitely interested in LSU at this point."
Yet the USC Trojans are also a player for Richardson, and don't count out the Trojans, especially since his teammate and good friend TE Anthony Moeaki has just landed an offer from the Trojans. Could Richardson be the third Illinois prospect to land an early offer from the Men of Troy? "I'm really excited for Tony, and I just sent USC my tape out on Friday. I had a slight delay in getting the USC coaches my video tape, and I also called and talked to the coaches at USC and told them that the tape was on the way, and they told me that they would look at it early this coming week."
