Wheaton, Ill., four star ranked offensive tackle prospect Dace Richardson (6-foot-6, 300 pounds) made his first and possibly his last college summer camp last Saturday. Richardson was one of several Illinois prospects who attended the University of Iowa camp.
“I went to the Iowa camp last Saturday," Dace Richardson said. “I wanted to just get into the camp and I wanted to get some work in at Iowa. I was definitely a little rusty at first, but as the camp wore on I felt more and more comfortable and then everything started to come back to me. I wasn't really attacking like I usually do, I thought I was too passive at times, but I learned a lot from that camp. We started our team camp on Monday, and from the start I was firing off the ball and was more aggressive."
Richardson, who earlier this spring had planned to make several unofficial visits as well as attending a few college camps has scaled back his summer plans considerably. "I was planning to attend both the Illinois and Michigan camps, and I was also going to make several unofficial visits as well, but unfortunately I won't be able to attend those camps. I have a family matter that will keep me close to home this summer, and I'll need to stay close to my family and I won't be able to get out much."
Will Richardson make any unofficial visits this summer? "I doubt it. I might try to get a few in but it doesn't look like I'll be able to get out to see any schools this summer."
Richardson is planning on working hard this summer with his team, and Richardson will also give some serious consideration towards narrowing down his final Top 5 schools list. "I'm going to start to give some serious thought towards my favorites list, and I'm hoping to narrow things down by the end of the summer."
