OL Kuempel enjoys Iowa Nike Camp

Marion, Iowa offensive tackle prospect Andy Kuempel (6-foot-7, 250 pounds) from Linn-Mar High School was one of several in-state offensive linemen who performed well at the Iowa Nike Camp on Sunday.
“Overall I wasn't sure what to expect since I was never at a camp like that,” Andy Kuempel said. “I was really impressed with the entire camp, and I really liked the overall intensity of the camp. You had a ton of really good players all competing for the same thing, and it was a lot of fun."

Kuempel, who was in Iowa City on Saturday for a University of Iowa junior day event, has started to see more and more recruiting interest lately. "Things have picked up lately. I received a call from the University of Kansas last night, and today Kansas State, Kansas and Iowa State all made in school visits. Coach (Dan) McCarney from Iowa State was in school today, and he talked for awhile with my coach."
Kuempel, who is still searching for his first scholarship offer, is glad that he attended the Iowa Nike Camp. "I had a good experience overall at the Nike Camp, and I'm just going to continue to work hard this off season. I'm definitely looking forward to getting to a few college camps this summer and showing those schools what I have to offer."
