Marion, Iowa three star ranked offensive tackle prospect Andy Kuempel (6-foot-7, 250 pounds) is in a holding pattern these days as far as his recruiting is concerned.
“Things are just about the same since we last talked," Andy Kuempel said. "We lost to Cedar Rapids Prairie by 12 points on Friday, and they are a state ranked team. We just made some silly mental mistakes, but otherwise we were in the game."
Kuempel has also just sent out several video tapes showing his early senior year performance.
"I sent out tapes to Iowa, Florida, Oregon, Minnesota and Purdue as well as sending tapes to the schools that have already offered me. I'm hoping to get some feedback from those schools very soon."
Kuempel also has seen an increased amount of interest from two schools that generally don't recruit the state of Iowa very often.
"Both Florida and Oregon seem very serious in recruiting me at this point, and that's great. Both schools want to see my early senior tape, and both schools continue to call me weekly."
"Iowa has my senior tape and they are still telling me that I'm close with them. They haven't offered any additional linemen yet, and they have also been very honest in the recruiting process so far. I'm going to see how things go over the next few weeks with Iowa as well as with several others schools."
Kuempel still has his favorites list the same, but some new offers could help reshape that list.
"I'm still looking at Iowa, Iowa State, Kansas and Kansas State. I'm also staying open for now and if a few additional schools offer, that could change my favorites list."
"As far as official visits are concerned, let's just say that I'm getting there. I hope to have a few official visits set over the next few weeks after some schools have had a chance to evaluate my senior tape. I know that I will definitely take an official visit to Kansas State, they will get an official visit, I just need to set up the date with the coaches at K-State."
