Chicago (Ill.) Morgan Park junior offensive line prospect Ramone Johnson (6-foot-5, 307 pounds) on Monday landed a long rumored and long awaited offer from the University of Tennessee.
"I went into my coaches office on Monday and I had a big envelope waiting for me from Tennessee," Johnson said. "Tennessee has offered me a scholarship. The Tennessee coaches were in school last Friday for an in school visit and left the scholarship paperwork for me at school."
Johnson talked about his latest offer from the Vols.
"I know that Tennessee is always in bowl games, and they have some great tradition at Tennessee. They have been a highly successful program for many years, and it's cool that they have offered. It's located in the South, but it's also not too far away from here. I'll make an unofficial visit to Tennessee this summer."
Johnson is in no hurry to make his final college choice.
"Honestly, I haven't really given much thought recently to narrowing things down. I'm just enjoying May and getting a chance to talk with some of the coaches as well as seeing who's really interested in me. This summer I'll start to really look hard at the schools that have offered me."
