OL impressed with FSU, sets trip

Lafayette (La.) St. Thomas Moore offensive tackle Geoff Bernaird is on his way back from an impressive unofficial visit to Florida State. It was so impressive that he went ahead and lined up his official date with the Noles.
“I’m going to visit FSU on December 12,” Berniard, who is 6-foot-8 and 320 pounds, said. “I really enjoyed the game this weekend. It went into overtime and the crowd was really into it. I was there doing the tomahawk chop with them.

“I thought FSU was going to roll over N.C. State since they were coming in off a tough loss, but I really have to respect the job that Phillip Rivers did. He’s a really good player.”
However in the end, FSU won out. Now will the Noles win out when it comes to recruiting?
“It’s really down to three teams – Florida State, Tennessee and South Carolina,” Berniard said. “I’ve got my visit to South Carolina set for January 16 and I’m going up to Tennessee this next weekend for an unofficial visit.
“It’s going to be good to check out and see what Tennessee is like and compare it to Florida State before I take my official visits.”
Berniard and his teammates get a second chance at stopping the nation’s No. 1 receiver, Early Doucet, in the second round of the Louisiana state playoffs.
“We held him to around 100 yards last time we played them,” Berniard said. “So we’ll be ready for them again.”
