Position: Offensive guard
Size and speed: Meyer is 6-foot-3, 285 pounds and has been clocked at 5.02 seconds in the 40-yard dash at LSU’s camp last summer. Meyer has a 24-inch vertical leap, 405-pound bench-press and a 550-pound squat.
Honors: Meyer was an all-district selection as a junior.
Statistics: Playing offensive line, Meyer didn’t have any notable stats.
Favorite Schools: Meyer lists LSU, Alabama, Auburn, Texas A&M, Penn State and Clemson as his favorite teams recruiting him at this point.
Skinny: Last December in the Super Dome, Rivals100.com got a chance to scout the Louisiana state championships and there were a ton of blue-chip prospects on hand. But one player that caught the eye of scouts that isn’t quite the household name was River Ridge (La.) John Curtis offensive guard Aaron Meyer.
The 6-foot-3, 285-pound Meyer impressed with his drive blocking ability and ability to do the little things right. That – plus the fact that he is a three-year starter for one of the nation’s top high school programs – makes him an interesting prospect to look for in the Class of 2004.
“I guess the best way to describe me is that I’m hard-nosed and a very good run blocker,” he said. “As a year year-starter, I’ve gotten a lot of experience playing in big games. We want another title this year.”
He’ll probably get a great shot at it.
But what will he look for in a college?
“I think the most important thing to me is how much interest they show,” he said. “I also want to look hard at how I fit into their system. All the other stuff doesn’t really matter to me. I just want to play college football.”
Don’t worry, Aaron. You’re going to get your wish.
Meyer admits that he grew up an LSU and Penn State fan, but isn’t ready to claim a leader at this point in the recruiting process.
