OL Gray is taking visits, gaining interest

Offensive lineman Matt Gray at Woodbridge (Va.) Woodbridge Senior is gaining collegiate interest. The 6-foot-6, 300-pounder claims one verbal offer and has plenty of other schools near and far looking.
"I got an offer from South Alabama as a sophomore," he said. "I've visited Duke and Penn State a few weeks ago, I went to their junior days. I had a good experience and I liked what they had to say. Duke had such an amazing academic program and they are improving as a football program.

"Penn State has an amazing atmosphere. The campus is amazing. I'm really interested in both of those schools. I plan to visit Penn State again later this month."
Gray plans to take more visits including Colorado, Duke and Penn State for camps this summer.
Gray is hearing from numerous other schools as well including Alabama, Georgia Tech and Wisconsin.
Does the lineman like anybody?
"I have my heart set in Texas," he said. "Mainly, I spent most of my time in Texas, a majority of my life. I'm fond of that spot and really enjoy their football, there is something about the south, but the football is fierce here too."
Gray touched on what he wants in a college as well.
"Personally, it'd be nice to have a good mixture of football and most importantly academics," he said. "At the end of the day I've got to hang my football helmet up and I want a good education so I'm competent to be successful in life."
On the field, Gray earned second team all-district honors in his first year at Woodbridge after transferring up from Prattville, Alabama.
"I felt like I was trying to acclimate myself to a new environment at the beginning of the season, get used to the players, but after a few games I started to mesh with my team and got my rhythm going," he said. "I thought I played fairly decent the rest of the year."
From a military family, Woodbridge is Gray's third high school in three years joining Prattville and a stint in New Jersey. He's also lived in Texas. Gray added, he expects to graduate from Woodbridge.
