OL Doering drawing calls, visitors

Barrington, Ill. offensive tackle prospect Dan Doering (6-foot-6, 280 pounds) has already heard from just about every major college football power in the nation during the May evaluation period. Need proof? Just check out Doering's list of callers and visitors from the week of May 3rd thru May 7th.

“My Mom and Dad have been trying to keep track of all of this for me," Dan Doering said. "Last week was a very busy week both at the high school with coaches visiting and with phone calls each evening to my house."

"Last week we had in school visits from UCLA, Miami (Fla.), Notre Dame, Purdue, USC, Illinois, Wisconsin, LSU, Oklahoma, Florida State, Texas and Northwestern. This coming week I am taking an academic tour of Northwestern University after school, and I believe Coach Tyrone Willingham from Notre Dame will be visiting my high school on Tuesday."

If you think that Doering has been drawing college coaches to Barrington High School for visits, his list of callers from just last week alone is also as impressive. "Last week I received calls from Iowa, Ohio State, UCLA, LSU, Oregon, Notre Dame, Kansas State, Wisconsin, Nebraska and Michigan State."

"When coaches call my house in the evening we normally talk for about 30-45 minutes so I have missed a few calls that went to our voice mail."

"When I talk to the coaches they normally provide information about their schools and upcoming dates to unofficially visit their school this summer. Most of the coaches that call are calling to say hi, and letting me know about their program and how I would fit into it."

"Overall, all the phone calls and visits have been great and I am very excited and thrilled with all the opportunities which are being presented before me."

In between visitors and calls, Doering has added yet another offer from a national football power last last week. "I received my 21st offer as the University of Florida told me late last week that they are offering me a scholarship."

"I am very excited to receive a scholarship from the University of Florida. I know that they have a great program and play in a very tough conference. I am very thankful for all of the offers that I have received and plan to fully look at all of the schools that have offered before I make a decision."

Dan Doering currently has scholarship offers from Arizona, Boston College, Duke, Georgia Tech, Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, LSU, Michigan, Michigan State, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Nebraska, Northwestern, Notre Dame, Purdue, Tennessee, UCLA, USC and Wisconsin.
