Okwo named LB of the Year

If there was any doubt about the abilities of linebacker/running back Michael Okwo (6-0, 210, 4.55) from Manhattan Beach (Calif.) Mira Costa and his linebacker abilities they were put to rest with his fine senior season.
Okwo has just been selected California State Linebacker of the Year for 2002.

Okwo has narrowed down his schools to two and they are Stanford and UCLA.
Okwo visited Stanford last weekend and he came back lukewarm about his visit but he told Rivals100 that the Cardinal is still very much in the hunt.
“It was alright,” Okwo said about his trip to Stanford. “I like their academics.”
Okwo will take his visit to UCLA this weekend (January 24th). This weekend is shaping up a huge recruiting weekend for Karl Dorrell and his new UCLA staff.
“I will take my trip to UCLA and then I will think it over,” Okwo said. “I could make my decision shortly after my UCLA visit.”
Okwo was one of the best two-way players in the Golden State this season amassing 130 tackles, seven sacks, four fumble recoveries, three caused fumbles, and one pick.
Okwo was also was a standout running back rushing for 2,480 yards and scored 30 touchdowns.
“Every school that recruited me asked me if I wanted to play running back,” Okwo said. “I told them that I want to play linebacker.”
