Oklahoma State leads for Texas OL

Texas has already been kind to Oklahoma State this recruiting season, but it would be extremely generous if the Cowboys were able to land a commitment from Corsicana, Texas, offensive tackle Louis Vasquez. The 6-foot-5 1/2 , 310-pound tackle visited for Oklahoma State’s camp and came away very impressed with Stillwater.
“I really liked it,” Vasquez, a second-team all-district selection as a junior, said. “They said that I really could get in there and play early, and that’s what I liked to hear. I also really like how one of the coaches recruiting me is Les Miles. Coach Miles came down after the season was over to see me at school.”

While Vasquez said he lists Oklahoma State at the top of his list, there is quite a bit of competition to snag his commitment. Vasquez has scholarship offers from Oklahoma State, TCU, Nebraska, Iowa State, Kansas State, Baylor and Texas A&M.
“I’m going to Tech’s camp next weekend,” he said. “I’m interested to see what they are like.”
Vasquez said all of this recruiting attention is still surprising to him.
“I didn’t really expect this,” he said. “It’s been kind of overwhelming, but I’m also really excited about all of it.”
Vasquez said most coaches tell him that his footwork is impressive.
“A bunch of coaches said they like my feet and how I dominate,” Vasquez said. “The coaches say that I’m better at pass blocking, but I like to pull and down block on guys.”
Vasquez has a 380-pound bench press, 450-pound squat and a 3.1 grade-point average.
