Oklahoma State LB commit Blake Baron locked in with the Pokes

The Latest: Three-star linebacker Blake Barron shut down his recruitment early, choosing to commit to Oklahoma State over several other options. Since making his choice Barron has become in more confident in his decision and said he’s already starting to feel like a member of the Cowboy family. Rivals.com caught up with him at the recent Dallas stop of the Rivals 3-Stripe Camp Series presented by adidas to get a rundown on how things are going.

In His Words: “Everything has been great since I’ve committed. The fans are great, but they’ve always been great, even before I committed.”

On the coaching staff: “I love Coach Gundy and Coach Spencer, we have a great relationship and I talk to them a lot. I just love the place up there and how everything works out, like with the players and who they have and the personnel. The seniors they have now. I just think by the time I get there I will have a chance to start as soon as possible. I’m going to enroll early and get there and get to work and hope to earn a spot on the field.

On his next visit: “I plan on going back April 14 for their spring game. I just want to see how they play. I want to see if they run multiple defenses, I want to see how they line up, if they’re blitz heavy or now, stuff like that.”

On who he’s recruiting for the school: “I want Byron Hobbs to come to Stillwater with me. I’ve been talking to him about it all the time. I’m also recruiting Alston Orji, but he’s hardheaded. I know Byron likes it there and if the three of us went together that would be quite the combination.”

Rivals Reaction: In today’s world of recruiting it’s almost tough to find someone as solidly committed as Barron. Not only he is solid to the school, his efforts to recruit other top players from the state of Texas could help Oklahoma State build a very nice class for 2018.
