Oklahoma State lands Texas LB

The Oklahoma State Cowboys lassoed their first 2010 verbal commit out of the city of Houston. Houston Sharpstown linebacker Steven Maeweather verbally committed to the Cowboys after attending Oklahoma State's junior day this weekend.
"I love the facilities and coaches up there," he said. "I know some of the players up there and I pattern my game after their linebacker – Orie Lemon. It's been a dream to play in the Big 12 and against that great competition. I'm ready for the challenge it's going to bring."

Maeweather emerged as one of the city's top prospects after a solid sophomore season and tremendous junior year. He possesses solid coverage skills and is explosive from sideline to sideline.
"I've got a personal trainer I've been working with and will be working on my speed and strength during the spring and summer," he said. "I'm ready for my senior year right now."
The 6-foot-3 Maeweather held offers from Texas Tech, Houston, Baylor and TCU before committing to Oklahoma State. He also starts on the Apollos' basketball team and will also be running track this spring.
