Are those his favorites?
“No, I don’t have any favorites right now," Tennial said. "I’m keeping my options open. I would like to get to know the coaches of the schools recruiting me and make my decision based on where I feel most comfortable. Mike Stoops is recruiting me for Oklahoma and I’ve visited with coaches Gundy and Porter from Oklahoma State.”
The 5-foot-11, 210–pound Tennial is receiving attention from all of the Big 12 schools, including Texas A&M, Texas, Kansas State, Nebraska, Missouri, and Kansas. He’s also getting interest from Northwestern, UCLA, and Tennessee.
Tennial has been named one of the top 5 recruits in Oklahoma for next year.
“Most of the other coaches have told me they want to see how my senior season goes," Tennial said. Most have said they will probably give me an offer after the season.”
Tennial has high hopes for his senior season. As a junior, he rushed for 2,069 yards on 169 carries and tacked on 100 tackles on defense. This brought his career yardage total to 4,903 yards in three years.
“I’m working hard for next yea," Tennial saidr. "Hopefully we can win the state championship. We lost in the first round of playoffs last year. I know we can do better.”
Tennial knows about state championships, he won his second straight state wrestling title last spring in the 215-pound weight class.
“I’m definitely going for my third next year.”
Courtney has also recorded a personal best 10.7 in the 100 meter dash and has already qualified academically with a 3.5 GPA and a score of 23 on his ACT test.
