The last two seasons have been very good to Smith. As a sophomore he threw for over 3,000 yards and 27 scores. His junior campaign brought nearly 2,700 yards and 21 more touchdowns.
"I'm getting closer to the all-time record for passing yards in Oklahoma," the 6-foot-3, 181-pounder said. "I'm within 1,200 yards or so. If I have another season like the last two, I'll get there. It'd be nice, but that isn't what is driving me."
Putting forth a product that could lead to a college scholarship might be though.
"I've kind of gotten my name out there some for scouts," Smith said. "I just need to play as well as I can to keep it out there. And having another good season will help me do that."
The schools that have been in pursuit of the Oklahoma prepster is a group of good schools on the football field.
"I've had interest from Texas Tech, Texas A&M, Oklahoma State, Oklahoma, Kansas, Colorado and Baylor."
