"I've been to six camps so far," Smith said. "I've got one more on the schedule yet. The Alabama camp is coming up in July."
The six he has been to already include Kansas, Missouri, Oklahoma, Purdue, Penn State and Tulsa.
"I've had a pretty good time at them so far," the 6-foot-3, 181-pound Smith said. "I'm not really listing any favorites right now. I've got several schools I'm looking at. Going to these camps is helping me learn more about the schools."
Smith has put his name in front of college coaches during his high school career. The last two seasons have been very good to Smith. As a sophomore he threw for over 3,000 yards and 27 scores. His junior campaign brought nearly 2,700 yards and 21 more touchdowns.
"I'm close to the all-time record for passing yards in the state," Smith said. "I'm within 1,200 yards."
Smith is receiving interest from Missouri, Kansas, Kansas State and Texas Tech as well as some others.
"Penn State said I am one of a few quarterbacks they are looking at," Smith said. "I have also talked to Oklahoma. Coach (Bob) Stoops talked about gray shirting as a possibility for me. We'll see what else happens between now and the fall. I don't want to rush into a choice just to get it done."
