Oklahoma pursues 2016 R250 WR

After a strong camp performance this summer the Oklahoma Sooners let 2016 Rivals250 wide receiver Camron Williams know he was wanted in Norman.
On Tuesday, the Sooners wanted to make sure there were no misunderstandings and made it clear an offer was indeed on the table with a phone call.

"Well I was in class when my head coach knocked on the door and asked to speak with me," Williams said. "I came out into the hallway and he handed me the phone and said it was the coach from Oklahoma. I picked up the phone and he offered me right on the phone."
While on the phone, Oklahoma also let him know just what it was about his play which caught their attention.
"He just told me the things they liked about me," Williams said. "How physical I was and he was telling me I was a competitor out there and that's what he needs to fill spots on the field."
He was also invited to Norman, and he plans to make the weekend trip.
"They have a game this Saturday and I'll go up there to see it," Williams said. "It will be the first time."
Since it will be his first time to Oklahoma, there are a few things he is looking forward to seeing on his visit.
"Just getting a chance to see the environment," Williams said. "Seeing if I could see myself involved in the program and being there for four years."
Williams was able to take in the Texas-BYU game over the weekend, and he also enjoyed his time in Austin.
"I just recently went to a Texas game to check them out," Williams said. "It was cool meeting Charlie Strong and being around Texas."
He also received an offer from Rutgers last week. Like Oklahoma, the Rutgers coaches were working the Sam Houston camp and saw his summer performance. It did not take long for the Scarlet Knights to figure out he was a guy they would need on campus.
"I got an offer from Rutgers last week. It was the same situation. I was in class and my coach pulled me out and he said hey it's the phone," Williams said. "It was Rutgers on the phone and he offered."
As a sophomore in 2013, Williams recorded one reception for 16 yards and recorded 13 tackles and a sack while playing tight end and defensive end in five games at Dallas (Texas) Woodrow Wilson. As a junior at Dallas (Texas) First Baptist Academy he has already recorded 10 receptions for 208 yards and two touchdowns in two games.
He is currently ranked No. 166 in the 2016 Rivals250, No. 29 among the nation's 2016 wide receivers, and No. 18 in the Rivals.com Texas Initial Top 75 for 2016.
