Oklahoma OL ready for action

Kyle Smith is looking forward to getting back on the field this fall.
The 6-foot-4, 250-pound offensive lineman out of Guthrie, Okla. played seven games last season with a separated shoulder.

“I played through the pain,” Smith said. “I’ll find a way to win. You’ve got to have heart to play football.”
Smith had surgery in December to repair his injured shoulder.
“It’s coming along well,” Smith said. “It won’t be a problem.”
Smith said he spends 80% of his free time in the weight room, staying in shape and rehabbing the shoulder.
The injury and the rehab will keep him from attending any camps this summer.
“My doctor told me to avoid heavy contact for a few more months. I’ll be ready to go next fall, though. I’m ready for the season.”
The injury isn’t scaring off many coaches, however.
“I’ve been getting a lot of mail and I’ve seen a few coaches at the school talking to my coach but I haven’t been able to talk to them. Oklahoma, Nebraska, Kansas, Missouri, and Oklahoma State have shown the most interest so far.”
Does he have an early leader?
“I went down to Oklahoma for their junior day. I really liked it down there. I’m wide open, though. I want to go somewhere and play.”
