Haskell, Okla., inside linebacker Tyler Johnson is set to dive head first into recruiting now that his senior season is over. And he took a big step in tonight with an in-home visit from Oklahoma State assistant coach Todd Monken.
“Coach Monken and I had a great time talking with each other,” Johnson, a two-star recruit that is 6-foot-2 and 202 pounds, said. “He was talking to me about their facilities, and about how I could really fit in there at O-State. I went ahead and set up my visit for this upcoming weekend.
“I’m going to go down there for December 5.”
Could we see Johnson possibly commit to the Cowboys?
“I’m leaning toward OSU for sure,” Johnson said. “There is a lot of stuff that I like about them. I like the coaching staff, and I know some of the players. They have great players with great personalities. There is a good possibility that I will go ahead and commit when I’m there for the visit.”
If he doesn’t, Johnson said he’s likely to go ahead and visit Tulsa the following weekend. However, that date isn’t set in stone at this time.
“TU is really after me hard,” Johnson said. “I guess we’ll see what happens on the first trip. If I want to take another, then I probably will go ahead and do it.”
Johnson is now preparing to play basketball for Haskell. He plays power forward for his team.
