Crandall (Texas) three-star athlete Samuel Omosigho announced his commitment to Oklahoma on Thursday afternoon, as the Sooners get back on the board with their second commitment this week.

Omosigho's pledge came as a result of the relationship-building Oklahoma was able to do through Brent Venables and defensive coordinator Ted Roof.

"Coach Venables and Coach Roof just swept me off my feet," Omosigho said. "It's a spot that's been having success and they're bringing that defensive mind into a successful program, also him being a defensive head coach. It just screams defense for me."

Oklahoma sees Omosigho as an outside linebacker with the potential to slot inside if his body develops into it. While it's something he'll have to adjust to, Omosigho says he is looking forward to doing it under Ted Roof.

"Me turning into a linebacker is a big change and I feel like they have a really good program to help," he said. "They have a lot of linebackers on their depth chart so I'm gonna have to work and earn my spot, earn my stripes and get nurtured by the upperclassmen and Coach Roof as well. His transcript, his resume speaks for itself. All of the successful people he's coached, Coach Roof is the real deal. Being able to be coached by him will be a blessing."

His admiration for Brent Venables stems from the multiple conversations he's had with the newly-hired head coach in which positivity was the main theme.

"Nothing but positivity," Omosigho said. "Every time I hit Coach Venables, it's like a motivational speech. He brings a lot of charisma."

From the moment Omosigho stepped on campus, the East Texas star knew that Norman was the place for him.

"After that first visit, I was really attached to Oklahoma since then," he said. "I just always felt this was the spot."

Moving forward, Omosigho will try to help Oklahoma's recruiting efforts as the Sooners look to build a solid transition class under Brent Venables.

"I'm gonna try to get some of the best athletes in the nation to join me and build a really good class," he said.

But before he gets to Norman, he has one big goal in mind for his senior season.

"I'm trying to make Crandall the best place," he said. "My goal for this year is to get Gatorade Player of the Year as well."

At 6-foot-1, 205 pounds, Omosigho is the No. 35 ranked athlete in the country and the No. 79 ranked recruit from the state of Texas for the class of 2023, according to Rivals.
