Geirean Hatchett has been receiving interest from Oklahoma through his sophomore season and last weekend the 2020 prospect decided to visit Norman.

The Ferndale, Wash., offensive lineman landed his first offer from the Sooners. Safe to say he doesn’t regret the visit.

“The trip to Norman was awesome,” Hatchett said. “The game-day environment was great. The OU fans were hyped the whole game and seemed really passionate about their team.

“I had talked to Bill Bedenbaugh and coach Cale Gundy on the phone a few times, but meeting them in person was really cool. I got to talk with Lincoln Riley in the locker room after the game and he was great and excited to speak with me.”

After Oklahoma defeated West Virginia to close out the regular season, the 6-foot-5, 265-pound standout got a chance to talk more with the coaches in the locker room and that’s when the 2020 recruit landed his first offer.

“Coach Bedenbaugh is the one who offered me after the game,” Hatchett said. “The game-day atmosphere is what stood out to me the most. I look forward to visiting OU again in January.”

As for other interest in Hatchett’s early recruitment, the 2020 standout has been to Washington for five games this season and he’s expecting to visit again with the Huskies soon. Oregon State and Eastern Washington are also showing more interest.
