Oklahoma DT adding new offers

Midwest City, Okla., has become a hot spot for recruiters looking for some of the top talent in the Midlands Region. And the school is home to one of the top players in Oklahoma for the class of 2009 – defensive tackle Dominique Jones.
Jones, who is 6-foot-2 and 278 pounds, picked up early offers from Arizona and Tulsa, but recently three new offers came in – Kansas, Kansas State and Louisville.

"I was really excited when I got the offer letters from Kansas and K-State," Jones, who had 114 tackles and five sacks as a junior, said. "I don't know much about Kansas at this point. The letters have been mainly coming from coach Jackson. They are a very good team, though.
"With K-State, I went up to their spring game last weekend. It was pretty good. I met the D-line coach, Mo Latimore. He talked to me about academics and life in general, instead of football. That was kind of refreshing. I enjoyed it. I know a little bit about Bill Snyder, but not too much."
The Louisville offer isn't in writing yet, Jones said. But he is excited about how things have progressed so far for him, especially after he was sitting with so few offers earlier in the process.
"I was waiting and waiting for it to happen," Jones said. "My coaches told me to be patient, but it was tough. Then I got my first offer and then all of a sudden a bunch of others started to come in."
Jones said he enjoys talking with all the coaches that are recruiting him. People like Arizona assistant Seth Littrell have made a big impression on him, but he's not in a huge rush to make a decision.
"I was thinking about not waiting, but the more I think about it, the more I want to wait and see what's the best thing for me," he said. "I'm looking for a school that is really strong academic wise. I also will be looking at how the people are. I'm looking for a family environment, a place that I know I can feel welcome."
Jones said he's not heard too much from either of the in-state schools at this point, but his assistant coach Jason Sexton told him to be patient with both the Cowboys and Sooners.
"Coach Sexton said OSU might offer in a few weeks, but I haven't heard from them in a while," Jones said.
"It's somewhat disappointing to not be getting much attention from Oklahoma, but I have some other really good options. I really want to hear from a place like Missouri. I've heard they're going to offer me, but I also haven't talked to them in a while either."
