Oklahoma DE jumps on offer

Lawton (Okla.) Eisenhower defensive end Larry Birdine has made up his mind, and it's a decision that's going to make Oklahoma fans really happy.
Birdine said he officially became the Sooners' eighth commitment earlier this afternoon when he called the OU coaches to become the newest member of the Class of 2002.

"Oklahoma offered me on Monday," Birdine said. "So today, I called them and accepted. I committed today, and I'm headed to Oklahoma."
Birdine had some impressive other offers from Oklahoma State, Texas A&M, Missouri and Colorado, but it ended up not being as impressive as the one from the Sooners.
"I had visits set up to Oklahoma State, Missouri and Texas A&M," Birdine, who is 6-foot-4 and 230 pounds, said.
"It's not like the other schools did a bad job of recruiting me. I told our defensive coordinator the other day if Oklahoma offered I'd take it. They finally offered, and I jumped on it."
