Oklahoma ATH ignores the tape

At 5-feet-8 and 165 pounds, Aaron Ivey of Putnam City (Okla.) North doesn’t believe the measuring tape tells the whole tale.
“I play bigger than I am," Ivey said. "I play with a lot of heart.”

He also plays faster than most.
“I went to the Nike camp at Texas A&M. It was a lot of fun. I ran a 4.28 40 down there.”
That flash of speed caught the attention of college recruiters and led to invitations to some summer camps.
"I will be camping at Kansas State and Oklahoma this summer," Ivey said. "I'm looking forward to those."
While Ivey is receiving interest from several schools, he is still waiting for his first scholarship offer.
"I'm getting the most interest from Oklahoma, Nebraska, Kansas State, Missouri, SMU, Tennessee, Northwestern and UCLA. Missouri is my favorite right now, but just by a little bit over Tennessee. I really like both of them.”
Ivey had one of his more memorable games last season in the state semi-final game against Tulsa Union, posting 110 receiving yards.
“We were third and long and needed a first down to run the clock out for the win. I ran a corner route. I was between two defensive backs and I came down with the ball at the 1 yard-line with both of them hanging on me. I know I’m only 5-foot-8 but I play like I’m a 6-foot guy. If the ball is in the air I’m going to get it.”
