Position: Defensive Tackle
Size and Speed: Okam is 6-foot-5 and 295-pounds. He has been timed at 4.91 seconds in the 40-yard dash.
Statistics: Okam registered 68 tackles as a junior. He had 15 tackles for losses and four quarterback sacks.
Honors: Okam was named first-team all-district defensive tackle following the 2002 season.
Favorite Schools: Okam has scholarship offers from Texas A&M, Kansas State and Oklahoma. He also is receiving interest from Texas, Oklahoma State, Colorado, Tennessee and LSU.
Skinny: Okam is one of the state of Texas' top defensive tackles for the Class of 2004. While he only holds three scholarship offers to date, that list will certainly grow.
"Texas A&M, Kansas State and Oklahoma were the first ones to offer," Okam said. "They're the only ones right now. I do really like a lot of schools right now. I don't want to rush into anything. Texas, Oklahoma State, Colorado, LSU and some others have been sending me quite a bit of mail."
Okam does not list a favorite at this time.
"I like a lot of them right now. Nobody is out in front of the others at this time."
Okam plans a few camps over the summer.
"I know I'm going to the Nike Camp in College Station in May. I'm also looking at possibly going to Texas A&M, SMU and maybe Notre Dame."
While the recruiting attention will continue to grow, don't look for a quick decision from Okam.
"I will take my time with this decision," he said. "My parents have said they thought that would be a good idea. I've had others tell me that too. So, I guess that is probably what will happen. I don't want to rush into something and regret it."
