Franklin Okam, of Richardson (Tex.) Lake Highlands, is rated as a 5-star prospect and the No. 2 defensive tackle in the country by Rivals.com. Who leads for the 6-foot-5, 300 pound superstar and is he looking at a couple schools to the east?
“I don’t have a leader right now” said Okam. “I’m still wide open. I’m looking at Texas, Florida, Michigan, Ohio State, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, and North Texas.”
Has he scheduled all his official visits?
“I’ve scheduled one to Oklahoma (Dec. 12) but I’m not sure yet about the others. I’m wide open like I said.”
Was Okam looking at a couple schools on the east coast?
"I was looking at Boston College and Duke a bit because I want to be a doctor and academics are very important," he said. "But I'm pretty sure I'll end up staying in Big 12 country or at one of the top programs in the country. I want to play for a national title as well."
Okam has been having a good season after a brief injury scare earlier this season. Lake Highlands is 4-4 on the season, and Okam estimated that he had about 40 tackles and five sacks.
