Lake Richards, Texas defensive tackle Franklin Okam’s phone has been ringing off the wall lately as the end of the May calling period draws closer.

“I have been getting a lot of phone calls lately,” the 6-foot-5, 295-pound Okam said. “It’s been pretty hectic around here.”
While Okam isn’t ready to claim a leader, he does have a few schools he favors.
“I’m most interested in Michigan, Boston College, Texas, Texas A&M, Nebraska, Arkansas, Georgia Tech and LSU,” he said. “I thought by now I would probably have a preference. But, I really don’t.”
Okam is working on finalizing his summer camp schedule.
“My teammate Jeremy Campbell and I are going to try and go to the same camps together. We’re looking at several, but nothing is finalized yet.”
Okam isn’t set on staying near home for college.
“I’m really not looking at the location of a school. I’m fine with wherever it ends up being. I just want to find the best place for me to continue my career.”
