Okafors name gets out early

CYPRESS, Texas - Though it's early in the process, Pflugerville, Texas' Alex Okafor is already drawing notice after attending a NIKE Training Camp and the GHFCA Texas Football Combine over the last few weekends.
The 6-foot-4, 216-pound Okafor, a 2009 prospect, has had good performances at both events. One of those solid events was in the 40-yard dash testing this past Saturday where Okafor said he posted a 4.67-second time. With more summer camp plans, the junior-to-be says that he's looking to get a jump on the recruiting process early.

"I'm just trying to get my name out there and get people looking at me," Okafor said. "I just want to get out to as many of these things as I can."
This summer, the travel plans will continue. Okafor says that he plans to head to Baylor, Oklahoma State, Texas, Texas A&M, and other Big 12 schools this summer.
Is there an early favorite for Okafor?
"I'd have to say LSU," Okafor said. "My cousin (Eric Alexander) who plays for the New England Patriots now, went there. I've been to the campus quite a bit since he was playing on the football team.
"He just said that it's fun and it's best to come out and get your name out there so people are looking at you."
Okafor says what he's most looking forward to after this summer is the possibility of his first scholarship offers this coming September.
"I'm just trying to get a lot of schools looking at me and then hopefully, I get the opportunity to have early offers this fall," Okafor said. "I'm looking forward to all of that."
