Okafor is one to watch for 2009

One of the prospects to watch in the state of Texas for the Class of 2009 is Pflugerville defensive end Alex Okafor, who showed impressive quickness and athleticism at the Fort Worth NIKE Camp on Saturday.
Okafor measured in at 6 feet 4 inches and 216 pounds, was impressive during the agility drills at the camp and also had some nice moments in the one-on-ones. While he will have to add weight to reach his full potential on the collegiate level, he certainly has the frame to do so and with two full high school seasons to go, chances are he will at least be approaching his target weight by the time he steps foot on a college campus in the spring or fall of 2009.

Speaking of colleges, several programs already are getting a jump on Okafor, sending camp information (that is all programs are legally allowed to send at this time).
"Colleges are sending me camp information in the mail," Okafor said. "Oklahoma State, Texas A&M, Georgia and Texas all have sent stuff.
While it's way early in the process, a trio of programs have caught the youngster's eye.
"Right now, Texas, LSU and Texas A&M are the schools that I have the most interest in," he said.
Okafor said his experience at the NIKE Camp Saturday was a positive one.
"We learned a lot of new stuff," he said. "It was a good experience. Right now my strengths are explosiveness, quickness and height. I need to work on getting stronger, but I am doing that right now."
