Ohio top 50 player racking up offers

Xenia, Ohio, defensive tackle Martin Channels is ranked by Rivals.com as the No. 47 player in the state of Ohio. And with a slew of scholarship offers already on the table, the 6-foot-1, 300-pounder said he still has loftier goals and dreams of earning one big-time offer with a solid senior season.
"I have written offers from Miami of Ohio, Kent State, Akron, Indiana and Ball State," Channels said. "I don't really have a favorite out of those teams, but I'd like an offer from Ohio State. I haven't talked to anybody there, but I hope I can show I deserve an offer next season. It's Ohio State. How could I not want to play for them?"

But he's still not focused only on Ohio State.
"I want to play for a nice sized school with a good football program," he said. "Nothing else really matters to me. I went to camp at Miami of Ohio, Ohio State and West Virginia. When I went to camp at Miami, I was worn out, but I feel like I did alright. I had better times at Ohio State and West Virginia so I feel like I improved."
Channels said he's improved but still thinks he has the game to be a big-time college prospect.
"I'm good with both the run and the pass," he said. "I like when a team runs the ball, because it gives me a better chance to make a play. I feel like I'm a pretty good tackler. Not a lot gets by me."
