Ohio State surprises big-time DE

Cincinnati (Ohio) Woodward defensive end Ray Edwards was lukewarm about Ohio State when it came to recruiting. However, that was before his official visit this past weekend.
"It was great, a lot better than I thought it would be," said the 6-foot-6, 235-pounder. "I went there mainly to have some fun, but it really opened my eyes to them. I know it's very big, but they showed me a lot about the academic support and all that. It was better than I thought."

That makes three teams in the hunt for the talented rush end after official visits with Purdue, Boston College and the Buckeyes. Next up is Tennessee.
"I'm looking forward to it because that's another school I thought might be too big and not have the academics I wanted," he said. "But I'll know more after I get back. If I need a fifth visit, I'd like to take it before Christmas and will make it to either Wake Forest or South Carolina."
Any leader at this point?
"Not really," he said. "I liked Purdue and Boston College because they're small schools and have great academics. Ohio State is big-time football and I fit there a lot better than I thought. This is getting tougher."
