"Follow the visits" is a popular saying in the recruiting world and it certainly was true for Mitchell Melton's recruitment. The linebacker out of Olney (Md.) Good Counsel took more visits to Ohio State than to any other school and announced his commitment to the Buckeyes today.

IN HIS OWN WORDS...

"It just felt like home to me," Melton said. "Ohio State is the school I visited the most and I really connected with the staff even after the coaching change. That was something I was scared for because I didn't know how they would react but it was seamless. They continued communication on a high level and it's been like that for six months. I appreciate the love they've shown and the trust and belief in me.

"I wasn't really too worried about getting early playing time," he said. "I plan on working hard and earning my keep.

"The coaches see me a lot like Pete Werner, as far as my position goes, where I can do multitude of things as a defensive end," said Melton. "I kind of do that now in high school so it won't be that big of an adjustment for me."

RIVALS' REACTION...

Melton does a lot as an edge defender and Ohio State's coaches are going to make sure they get the most out of him. He knows how to play with his hand in the ground and get to the quarterback but he has plenty of athleticism to cover in space. It's very obvious when watching him just how much space he can take up in coverage and that's going to make life really difficult for opposing quarterbacks.
