After being a virtual unknown following his junior season in 2014, three-star Spring Hill, Tenn. quarterback Tylin Oden burst onto the scene last December, adding several offers before eventually committing to Louisville back in the spring. But after the Cardinals took a commitment from quarterback Jawon Pass, things between Oden and the school have been in flux. After nearly decommitting in August, Oden has explored his options, which has included renewed interest from schools like LSU, Missouri and most recently Ohio State. The Buckeyes appear poised to take another quarterback in the 2016 class and Oden's senior season, which included 2,500 yards of total offense and 27 touchdowns, has the school coming to town this week to see him.
IN HIS WORDS: "Last week Coach Beck started contacting me and told me they were interested," Oden said. "Now he's coming on Wednesday to see me at basketball practice and he's going to do an in-home visit that night with me and my family. We've been talking and he told me about the quarterback situation there and they're going to be down to three quarterbacks and they want to take another in my class. He said they're looking at a few guys and I'm in that top group."
Oden recently visited Louisville and will be back on campus for his official visit this weekend. The school is hoping to reel him back in for good. Oden said his situation with the Cardinals might be settled by the time he leaves campus.
"I'm still a soft commitment and I'm looking at other schools now I'm going back up there this weekend. They want us to sit down and have a conversation about what's actually going on and what the situation is. I'm going to go in with an open mind."
RIVALS' REACTION: Oden's highlights are making the rounds and more than a few major programs have taken notice. Louisville needs Oden in the class and his hoping to hold on to him, but if the Buckeyes come in with an offer things could get very interesting. LSU has also identified Oden as an option now that Feleipe Franks has flipped to Florida. With the coaching carousel slowing down, more schools will be focused on Oden as well.
