Warren (Ohio) Howland running back Lance Smith had a big junior season on both sides of the ball. Smith rushed for 1700 yards, averaged 7.5 per carry, and scored 18 times.
The 5-foot-10, 190 pound Smith also played outside linebacker and made 85 solo tackles, had 32 assists, and sacked the quarterback seven times.
But it's for his offensive talents recruiters are taking a long look.

"I get mail from Notre Dame, Ohio State, Penn State, Wisconsin, Miami of Ohio, Purdue, most of the Big Ten," Smith said. "Miami offered already. And Wisconsin is supposed to offer in a little bit.
"I'm going up to Michigan for a spring practice. I went to Notre Dame and Penn State for junior days. I'm going to Ohio State March 31 for a spring practice.
"I like Notre Dame most right now. I like Ohio State a lot too. I felt comfortable at Penn State. I like Wisconsin too. And I like Iowa and Miami of Ohio."
Smith's brother Maurice Smith went to Michigan State before transfering to Youngstown State where he is a linebacker.
