Ohio QB stays in state

Freemont (Ohio) Ross two-star quarterback Aaron Opelt was one of the better quarterbacks in Ohio this season. And now that talented quarterback is taking his game to the next level, and the good news for local fans is that he's going to stay in state.
"I committed to Toledo yesterday," Opelt, who is 6-foot-2 and 195 pounds, said. "It was between Toledo and Cincinnati, and I felt Toledo fit me the best."

The Rockets had defensive coordinator Tim Rose lead his recruitment, but offensive coordinator and quarterback coach John Shannon played a big role in it, too.
"I called coach Shannon and he was really excited with the news," Opelt said. "I liked the way coach Rose recruited me. He would come by the house, and we'd talk also up at school. He's the type of coach you build a good relationship with."
Opelt visited Toledo back on December 2 and then went to Cincinnati last weekend. He said in the end it was all about the right fit.
"I could just tell this was the right decision," Opelt said. "Everything pointed me toward Toledo, and after I thought about it, it was the right choice."
